Varicocele may lead to male infertility issues in a small proportion of men. Varicocele as we understand are abnormally large veins that carry a larger than normal volume of blood through the scrotum area that cause a raise in temperature in the vicinity of the testis. The testis is very sensitive to temperature changes, particularly in the aspect of sperm production. The presence of varicocele also causes high pressure within the testis. Hence, the presence of a higher temperature and pressure within the testis can affect sperm production, leading to poor fertility issues in men.
